We handle everything including making room and meal reservations at some of the best nature lodges, ensuring expert guides are available, arranging safe and reliable transportation,and providing information including bird checklists and maps of the areas visited. Michael R. (Mike) Boatwright, owner/operator of and head guide for Tico Tours™, has been birding for over 35 years. He has birded extensively in North America,the Bahamas,Costa Rica, and most recently Ecuador, including the Galapagos, and has a Life List of over 1500 species. Mike made his first visit to Costa Rica in February 2005 where he birded most of the areas described while amassing over 200 Life Birds. Mike started Tico Tours™ as a way of sharing the fantastic experience of a birding trip to Costa Rica.
Mike holds a Biology degree from Old Dominion University and has been a Chemistry Manager for the last ten years. His leadership skills will ensure every trip is well organized and lead with your satisfaction being his primary goal.
Sandra (Sandy) Boatwright is Tico Tours™ Administrative Asssitant. In addition to maintaining our finances, Sandy handles much of the correspondence with potential clients and helps make tour arrangements for many of our tours. She holds a Registered Nurse's License and can help answer many of your questions regarding medical precautions for our tours as well. Come let Sandy put her skills to work for you.
